No, you don't need a pristine, calm mountain lake to find your inner peace.
Both children and adults today are stressed by the pressure they feel from both themselves, their families, work, school, and society. It's challenging sometimes to find moments of peace in our day-to-day life. We tend to relax with a phone in our hand, the input from the outside is seemingly never-ending. For me personally, it lead me to a burnout. Something I don't wish you ever will experience. So if you feel on the verge. Please slow down. Here are my best tricks to wind down.
Breathe deeper. Your breath actually calms you down. It's a magic trick. I know, and so do you, you just needed this reminder of it. Breathe all the way down to your belly, hold your breath for as long as you can, exhale completely. Repeat for as long as you need.
Take small moments to rest (without looking at your phone). In daily life, we actually naturally get short opportunities to take some deep, calming breaths. For example; in line at the grocery store, at the red light, at the bathroom, the list could go on.. And remember it's ok to take short moments to just rest between your focused hard work, you will feel energized if you do it!
Go for walks. Not only do walks in nature make you feel like a fairy that can hear trees talk, people who walk live longer and are healthier and happier than those who don't according to research. Read more about that here. Note - if you are suffering from a burnout right now; take sloooow walks.
Meditate. Even you can do it. To begin, start with guided meditations, there are plenty online for free! Meditation is good to bring more focus and clarity to your life.
Nothing is more important than your health. Pain is the number one thing that will make you lose your energy. Your mind, body, and soul need nourishment and nutrients to be strong and healthy. If something is out of tune, and you suffer from pain, only you can change it and do something about it; take that test, start to add more healthy things to your diet and life, and if you know what is not good for you.. Is it really worth the pain you suffer from when you do it anyway?
